Spring of Happiness

Image
It is interesting to know... which country is the happiest country in the world... refer the link below..

http://www.livescience.com/51327-happiest-countries-list.html

It inspires us to think......

We have rich and divine heritage of Vedas, Upanishadas and Bhagvad Gita... How many Gods we believe in India... How many religions we follow in India... How many rituals, customs and traditions we follow in India.... If we have the most ancient and rich heritage... If we have so many Gods and Religions... If we are following such good rituals and customs... Then why we are sad and unhappy. India must be the 1st in the list... But India has 70th position. Still we need to Introspect...

Why it is so... Because we don't understand where the happiness is... We are trying to find it some where outside.. some where in the materialistic objects. If happiness lies in worldly articles and ornaments then, who possess it, must be happy. But we see in the society that those who have big banglow…

Purity

Image
Life of my life,
I shall ever try to keep my body pure,
knowing that thy living touch
is upon all my limbs.

I shall ever try to keep all untruths
out from my thoughts,
knowing that thou art that truth
which has kindled the light of reason in my mind.

I shall ever try to drive all evils
away from my heart and
keep my love in flower,
knowing that thou hast thy seat
in the inmost shrine of my heart.

And it shall be my endeavor
to reveal thee in my actions,
knowing it is thy power gives me strength to act.

Break limits

Image
An elephant can lift in excess of a ton of weight with just its trunk. Still an elephant is conditioned to stay in one place with a weak rope and a stake. Only a small rope tied to its front leg holds an elephant. No chains, no cages. It is obvious that the elephant can, at anytime, break away from its bonds but for some reason, it does not.

The reason is that, when the elephant is a baby and much smaller, it is tied to a strong chain and strong tree. The baby is weak but the chain and tree are strong. The baby is not used to being tied, so it keeps tugging and pulling the chain, in vain. A day comes when it realizes that all the tugging and pulling will not help and it gives up, thinking that it cannot break away from the bond. It stops and stands still.

And when the baby elephant becomes the mighty giant elephant, he is tied with a weak rope and a small stake. The elephant could with one tug, walk away free, but it goes nowhere because it has been conditioned to believe that it cannot…

Youth

Image
Age is a quality of mind
If you have left your dreams behind
If your ambitions’ fires are dead
If you no longer look ahead
If hope is cold…
Then you are old…then you are old
But
If from life you take the best
If in life you keep the jest
No matter how years go by
No matter how birthdays fly
If love you hold…
Then you are not old…then you are not old

Who will win ?

Image
“Grandma, please tell me story” A 5 years old boy asked to his grandmother, “You forgot yesterday also. Tell me now”Grandma looked into eyes of cute little boy, smiled and softly said,”Ok, listen…Once upon a time, there was an open swimming competition in one village.
Participants have to swim from one side of the lack to another side. Total distance to swim was around 500meters and winning prize was Rs. 10,000/- which was so much for village people, around 20 years ago. But only hurdle in the competition was, there were crocodile family leaving there into the lake."Crocodiles?" boy surprisingly whispered."Yes dear" Grandma continue...
At given time almost everyone gathered at lake and terrifyingly just before the race people saw Crocodile around the starting point. Everyone was scared; no one was ready to jump, no one want to win the race. Prize was 10,000/- but life is priceless. So finally, officially race started but no one tried to win the race, no one jumped …

Brink Of Eternity

Image
In desperate hope I go and search for her  in all the corners of my room;  I find her not.
My house is small  and what once has gone from it can never be regained.
But infinite is thy mansion, my lord,  and seeking her I have to come to thy door.
I stand under the golden canopy of thine evening sky  and I lift my eager eyes to thy face.
I have come to the brink of eternity from which nothing can vanish  no hope, no happiness, no vision of a face seen through tears.
Oh, dip my emptied life into that ocean,  plunge it into the deepest fullness.  Let me for once feel that lost sweet touch  in the allness of the universe.

Passing breeze

Image
Yes, I know,
this is nothing but thy love.

O beloved of my heart,
this golden light that dances upon the leaves,
these idle clouds sailing across the sky,
this passing breeze leaving its coolness
upon my forehead.
The morning light has flooded my eyes,
this is thy message to my heart.

Thy face is bent from above,
thy eyes look down on my eyes,
and my heart has touched thy feet.

Flower

Image
Pluck this little flower and take it,
delay not! I fear lest it
droop and drop into the dust.

I may not find a place in thy garland,
but honour it with a touch of
pain from thy hand and pluck it.
I fear lest the day end before I am aware,
and the time of offering go by.

Though its colour be not deep and its smell be faint,
use this flower in thy service and pluck it while there is time.

I can do it !

Image
Business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. "I can see that something is troubling you," he said. After listening to the executive's woes, the old man said, "I believe I can help you."

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, "Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time."

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

"I can erase my money worries in an instant!" he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him…

Hold on yet a while, Brave heart...

Image
If the sun by the cloud is hidden a bit, If the welkin shows but gloom, Still hold on yet a while, brave heart, The victory is sure to come.
No winter was but summer came behind, Each hollow crests the wave, They push each other in light and shade; Be steady then and brave.
The duties of life are sore indeed, And its pleasures fleeting, vain, The goal so shadowy seems and dim, Yet plod on through the dark, brave heart, With all thy might and main.
Not a work will be lost, no struggle vain, Though hopes be blighted, powers gone; Of thy loins shall come the heirs to all, Then hold on yet a while, brave soul, No good is e’er undone.
Though the good and the wise in life are few, Yet theirs are the reins to lead, The masses know but late the worth; Heed none and gently guide.
With thee are those who see afar, With thee is the Lord of might, All blessings pour on thee, great soul, To thee may all come right!

Put the glass down today !

Image
Once a professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the student,"How much do you think this glass weights ?"
"50 gms!"... "100 gms!"... "125 gms!"... the student answered.

"I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the professor, "but, my question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"
'Nothing' ..the students said.

'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked.
'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student.

"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?"
"Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!"... ventured another student & all the students laughed.

"Very good." "But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?"asked the pr…

The 18th Camel

Image
A father left 17 camels as an asset for his three sons. When the father passed away, his sons opened up the will.
The Will of the father stated that the eldest son should get half of 17 camels while the middle son should be given 1/3rd (one-third). The youngest son should be given 1/9th (one-ninth) of the 17 camels.
As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, three sons started to fight with each other. Later, the three sons decided to go to a wise man.
The wise man listened patiently about the Will.
The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one of his own camel and added the same to 17. That increased the total to 18 camels.
Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will.
Half of 18 = 9. So he gave the eldest son 9 camels
1/3rd of 18 = 6. So he gave the middle son 6 camels
1/9th of 18 = 2. So he gave the youngest son 2 camels.
Now add this up : 9 plus 6 plus 2 is 17 and this leaves one camel, which the wise man took back.

Little drops of water

Image
Little drops of water,
little grains of sand,
make the mighty ocean
and the beauteous land.

And the little moments,
humble though they may be,
make the mighty ages
of eternity.

Little deeds of kindness,
little words of love,
make our earth an Eden,
like the heaven above.

So our little errors
lead the soul away,
from the paths of virtue
into sin to stray.

Little seeds of mercy
sown by youthful hands,
grow to bless the nations
far in heathen lands.

Glory then for ever
be to God on high,
beautiful and loving,
to eternity.

Work smart not hard

Image
Once upon a time, a very strong woodcutter asked for a job with a timber merchant, and he got it. The pay was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work. The first day, the woodcutter brought 21 trees.

“Congratulations,” the boss said. “Go on that way!”

Very motivated by the boss’ words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day but he only could bring 17 trees.

The third day he tried even harder, but he only could bring 10 trees.

Day after day he was bringing less and less trees. “I must be losing my strength”, the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.
“When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” the boss asked. “Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees.

God gave me an angel !

Image
God gave me an angel right here on earth
She taught me values and gave me self worth

She guides me though life with her wisdom,
God’s light…she steers me from wrong,
and leads me towards right.

She stands by my side,
When things are rough.
She taught me in bad times,
We need to be tough.

She’s there when I need her,
Through out all my years.
She laughs with me in happy times,
And comforts my tears.

My angel on earth was sent from above,
She’s paid not in wages but with eternal love,
She’s been my confidante, my rock, my protector.

And when God says her time is through,
I know I won’t forget her.
She needs not a halo or silken wings of grace,
For the glory of God’s love shines upon her face.

My guardian angel,
Can be replaced by no other.
She’s God’s gift to me,
I call her my dear mother !

It is hard to believe that you are not coming back,
I cannot be strong; it is courage that I lack.
It has been months since your death happened,
Although it still seems like yesterday.

But sometimes it feels like you are somewh…

Faith in God

Image
No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from Fear.

O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life - that in me hast rest,
As I - Undying Life- have power in Thee !

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts, unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main.

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by Thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates and rears.

Though Earth and moon were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every Existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou - Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

Listen the music of life !

Image
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round ?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground ?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight ?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night ?

You better slow down, don’t dance so fast;
Time is short, the music won’t last.

Do you run through, each day on the fly ?
When you ask “How are you ?”, Do you hear the reply ?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed;
With the next hundred chores, running through your head ?

You would better slow down, don’t dance so fast;
Time is short, the music won’t last.

Ever told your child, we will do it tomorrow ?
And in your hast, Not see his sorrow ?

Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die;
Cause you never had time, to call and say “Hi” ?

You would better slow down, don’t dance so fast;
Time is short, the music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere;
You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day;
It is like an unopened gift… Thrown away.

Life is not a race, do take it slower;

Sense of appreciation

Image
One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a bigcompany. He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, Never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?"
The youth answered "none". The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"
The youth answered,
"My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees."
The director asked, " Where did your mother work?"
The youth answered,
"My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The director asked,
" Have you ever helped your …

The one you feed !

Image
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, confidence, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.'

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?'

The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.' So always think positive and be the master of self not the slave.

Delight Eternal

Image
These are few drops from the ocen of infinite (Upanishadas)

(1) Transliteration :

Yo vai bhuma tat sukham,
Nalpe sukham asti,
Bhumaiva sukham. ...Upanishada...

Translation :

The Infinite is the satisfying happiness.
In the finite no happiness can ever breathe.
The Infinite alone is the fulfilling happiness.

Meaning :

The Life Infinite is the Delight Infinite.
The finite is a stranger to the infinite Happiness.
Infinity without Delight means the creation without a Creator.
Indeed, this is absurd.
Delight without Infinity means the Creator without the creation.
Indeed, this is equally absurd.

(2) Transliteration :

Anandadd hy eva khalv imani bhutani jayante,
Anandena jatani jivanti
Anandam prayantyabhisam visanti...Upanishada...

Translation :

From Delight we came into existence.
In Delight we grow.
At the end of our journey’s close,
Into Delight we retire.

Meaning :

God has written an open letter to His human children.
His letter runs:
“My sweetest children,
you are the only delight of
