The short anecdote is about a father and son. The father is wealthy and, believing his son will learn from the trip, he takes the little guy to “see how poor people live.” The dad thinks the encounter will motivate his son to work hard so that he never his live like those people. What his son learns instead blows the father away. “One day a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country for the sole purpose of showing his son how it was to be poor. They spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.” “After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. ‘It was great, Dad,’ the son replied. ‘Did you see how poor people can be?’ the father asked. ‘Oh Yeah,’ said the son.” “After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. ‘It was great, Dad,’ the son replied. ‘Did you see how poor people can be?’ the father asked. ‘Oh Yeah,’ said the son.” “’So what did

Life is like a cup of coffee

“Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” ~ William Wallace. In life we may miss to live. What needs more importance, we give it less; what needs less importance, we give it more. Here is a short story about it. A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured

To the sons of India

We have been celebrating Independence day for many years. But still a question arises in mind: Are we really free and independent ? We are mad about materialism. We abuse our Motherland and fly abroad. We are ready to compromise anything if we get paid high. We do useless tasks in foreign lands for the sake of money and procrastinate India. Braindrain is the critical tragedy of India. Man is becoming more self centered day by day. We are not ready to let go in family. We choose to live in nuclear family now. Human relations have lost aroma. They are more artificial now. Actually we are being professional. We are crazy about Economic development and Technical development. We ignore Human development and Character development for that. Moral and spiritual values have been  degrading everyday. Humanity is being hunted. We are giving priority to foreign languages. We consider the most scientific and rich language Sanskrit is dead now. A few is interested in learning it.

The life heroic

Heroes! In any field! We watch them, listen to them, follow them. We call them the top influencers of the age. We try to think and act like them. And we hardly give attention to losers. Even we ignore them. Our definition of success is the man with all possessions. We think that the man is successful when he is highly educated, having a high post, having a bang in banking, having a big bungalow and a luxury car, and so on. Let us try to go deep into this. It may be possible that who is having all these, lost his mental balance, or damaged his physical health, or degraded in family values, or descended in spiritual values. They may have compromised many other aspects of life in achieving worldly articles and artifacts. Aren't we find it necessary to think over it? It is very difficult to decide success or failure. What seems to be a success, maybe outer glitter only. What seems to be a failure, maybe an inner ecstasy. In the right sense, success or failure doesn’t matter. Wha

Nay, do not grieve; gay and glee

Sarojini Naidu was known by the sobriquet “The Nightingale” of India, was a child prodigy, Indian independence activist and poet. Naidu was a great patriot, politician, orator, and administrator of all the famous women of India. Not only that, but she was truly one of the jewels of the world. Her birthday is celebrated as “Women's Day.” This is a tiny poem written by her in days when India was struggling for freedom. Having new hopes and dreams; everyone was foreseeing India as an Independent Nation. Every Indian patriot was fighting for a new dawn of freedom. Days were deep dark and India lost esteem. In such dead dreamy nights, Naidu wrote wonderful lines and spread new aspiration. These beautiful lines through rays of light in such gloom. It’s ancient, but the poem is relevant today as well. It’s the jewel of wisdom. When we face such gloom in life, it gives a ray of hope. It inspires us to rise above in struggle of life. Trials and trifles don’t sustain forever

Mind own work

One day a new employee went to the HR and said .. I'm not interested in coming to the office anymore.” The HR responded, “But why?” Then the boy told “Ah! I can speculate many employees speaking badly about other Employees on back of him/her; one employee who can't talk well; Few employees looking at their fellow employees in a wrong way, there are hell lot of things that I can prove you wrong in our Office” There are people who do a lot of politics and talk all negative all the time. Few only do gossips all the time. The HR replied “OK. But before you go, can you do me a favour: take a full glass of water and walk three times around the office area without spilling a drop on the floor. Afterwards, leave the Office if you wish for.” The boy thought: it's a matter of minutes for him. And he walked three times around the office floor. Then he reached HR saying that he is done with it. And the HR asked “When you were walking around the Office floor did you see any employ

Work is worship

An attribute of a horse is speed, an attribute of an elephant is giant. A woman has a speciality of cleverness, and a man is known for his endeavour. Work. What does the word mean to me ? Is it boredom or passion ? It is burden or joy ? Is it pain or pleasure ? Is it hardship or worship ?   It depends upon our perception that what I do is soul feeding or soul distressing.   A wonderful incident:   Once a man was visiting a temple under construction. He came across three masons who were working at chipping chunks of granite from large blocks. The first seemed unhappy at his job, chipping away and frequently looking at his watch. When the man asked what it was that he was doing, the first mason responded, rather curtly, “I’m hammering this stupid rock, and I can’t wait ’til 5 when I can go ho
