Seagull the soul-bird

Image
At a very early age, my well-wisher gave me a book: Jonathan Livingston Seagull. At an instance, it seems to be a story of a bird who flies recklessly and wasting time. But when the real meaning was revealed, I found the voyage of life within it.  It’s a wonderful story of a seagull bird, who was dissatisfied with life. He saw his flock fighting for livelihood. They were just existing. Nothing extra, nothing special. He realized that life is not for only existing. There must be more than just living. It’s about flying.  So it’s a story of self-realization and self-discovery. It’s about expressing perfection which is hidden within us all. We discussed a lot about it and concluded these six points. These are mind-changing and life-changing views. Here I am sharing with all.  1. Seagull is a soul-bird:  It’s not a story of a mere bird who flies rashly. It’s a story of an inner bird who lives within us all. It’s not only about living but flying. It’s about expressing p

Savor of content

Image
Content. The sweet honey. According to me, the purpose of life should be happiness, peace, and content. But in today’s age, it’s being very difficult to be peaceful and contented. At each and every step, we are getting disturbed. We always feel a lack of life. We never feel fulfilled. Everything hammers us for what we don’t have. So content seems to be an illusion in this modern mobile age. In such dreariness, we can feel content, we can feel fulfilled. It’s certainly possible. When we look within, when we sublime within, it becomes reality. We just have to alter our thoughts and emotions to make it work. Think positive and feel positive, finally that leads us to act positively. The positive attitude is the only way to feel content. When we list out what we have in life, we feel grateful. We feel fulfilled and contented for the blessings of God. God has gifted me a beautiful life. He has created this wonderful world. He has not thrown me here. But he has brought me

The trouble tree

At the end of a day of duties and hard work, it can be really hard to disconnect from the office and the stress so that we don’t take it into our homes with us at night. The last thing our families want to deal with is our stress from the day – they are excited to spend time with us having fun and enjoying one another. So how do we suddenly switch modes and leave it all behind when work is over? Our families deserve a happy “us” and that means we have to train ourselves to leave a hard day behind us and allow ourselves to focus on our families when we get home. I recently heard a story called “The Trouble Tree” that shared a great example of how we can make that happen. Here it is: The carpenter who was hired to help a man restore an old farmhouse had just finished his first day on the job. First of all, on his way to work he had a flat tire that cost him an hour’s worth of pay, then his electric saw broke, and after work, his old pickup truck refused to star

What we see is our reflection

A person asked a question to his Guru, "My workers are not true to me. My children, my wife, and the entire world are very selfish. Nobody is correct." Guru smiled and told a story..., In one small village, there was a room with 1000 mirrors. One small girl used to go inside and play! Seeing thousands of children around her she was joyful. She would clap her hands and all the 1000 children would clap back at her. She considered this place as the world's happiest n beautiful place and would visit often. This same place was once visited by a sad and depressed person. He saw around him thousands of angry men staring at him. He got scared and raised his hands to hit them and in return 1000 hands lifted to hit him back. He thought... this is the worst place in the world and left that place. This world is also a room with 1000 mirrors around us... What we let out of us is what the universe will give back to us! "This world is heaven or hell. It&

God, make me brave for life

Image
“Brave” thy name is faithful. Fearlessness is a core quality for development. One who is fearful hinders growth. At each and every step he feels stuck. He lists out only threats of the situation. And by counting negatives, he gets outclassed. So being valiant on the life-front is essential for progress. The unique way to be valorous is to be faithful. Unfaltering source of faith is the concept of Indwelling God in Indian Vedic Culture. Fallacious and blind beliefs are always misleading. Deceptive understanding makes us baseless. Truthful understanding makes us aware.   God is with me, within me. He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. He is just and righteous. He is loving and takes care of me. Joy and woe whatever he gifts with is a divine love letter. Joy is to energize and woe is to strengthen. No doubt in this understanding cultivates faith. And as a result, I become gallant. So it’s in my hand to be heroic. Being lionhearted is a result of faith in self

Faith helps to sail through the storm

Image
Years ago, I was enthralled as I listened to a pastor who for several years had faithfully served the church. His executive responsibilities had taken him all over this country. As he concluded his message, he told of one of the most frightening yet thought-provoking experiences of his life. He had been on a long flight from one place to another. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: Fasten your seat belts. Then, after a while, a calm voice said, “We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened.” As he looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive. Later, the voice of the announcer said, “We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us.” And then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above

The glow-worm

While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things are extraordinary. ~ Matt Bavin None is small or none is big, it's a matter of attitude only. Which seems small, it may be big. And which seems big, it may be small. According to me, strength may vary, but the purpose for which it is used makes all difference. People perform big actions. It seems so gigantic. It may be in the welfare of all. But God always checks the purpose of it. For what purpose it has been done, that matters most. Good actions done with bad motives are bad. Bad actions done with good motives are good. ~ Bhagavad Gita Here is a little poem about Firefly. Tagoreji has poetically woven the act of him in words. Firefly is a small creature but act he does is not at all small. He enlightens the world. He borrows from none. In service to others, he uses his own power. In essence, it’s an elegant, noble and selfless act done out of love and kindness. So it seems small but it’s really n

The serene fortitude

Image
When challenges arise, when difficulties shake, the attitude that can fortify is the fortitude. Fortitude is the strength of mind that enables us to endure adversity with courage. In the midst of storm don't be afraid but face boldly. God blesses us with adversities to reinforce.   But the nature of mind is flickering. It may deviate in negativity. I realized three stages of mental state in the danger for upliftment. Adversity is Distress. Adversity is a Difficulty. Adversity is a Blessing. First one is frustrating. We get disturbed in it. We are doom in it. The second one faces it with hesitation but comes out of it. While the last one doesn't complain, even he enjoys and learn from it. He blesses God to gift him such an opportunity to strengthen self. So never give up. Don't be a victim. Fight and learn from it and come up as a winner. Here are underpinning quotes by great people to inspire self. ***** A serene fortitude in the face of d
