An inspiring incident of Arthur Ashe. The legendary Wimbledon Player who was dying of AIDS, which he got due to Infected Blood he received during a Heart Surgery in 1983! During his illness, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed : " Why did God have to select you for such a bad disease ? " To this Arthur Ashe replied : 50 Million children started playing Tennis, 5 Million learnt to play Tennis, 500 000 learnt Professional Tennis, 50 Thousand came to Circuit, 5 Thousand reached Grand Slam, 50 reached Wimbledon, 4 reached the Semifinals, 2 reached the Finals and When I was holding the cup in my hand, I never asked God: " Why Me ? " So now that I'm in pain how can I ask God: " Why Me ? " Happiness keeps us Sweet ! Trials keep us Strong ! Sorrows keep us Human ! Failure keeps us Humble ! Success keeps us Glowing ! But only, Faith keeps us Going ! Sometimes we are not satisfied with ou

The cobbler's boots

Image
Once upon a time, there was a cobbler who was very busy. He lived in a large village and was the only cobbler in town, so he was responsible for repairing the boots of everybody else. However, he didn’t have time to repair his own boots. This wasn’t a problem at first, but over time, his boots began to deteriorate and fall apart. While he worked feverishly on the boots of everyone else, his feet got blisters and he started to limp. His customers started to worry about him, but he reassured them that everything was OK. However, after a few years, the cobbler’s feet were so injured that he could no longer work and no-one’s boots got repaired. As a consequence, soon the entire town started to limp in pain, all because the cobbler never took the time to repair his own boots. I wrote this to illustrate a simple principle that is so often disregarded. If I don’t look after own self, after a while I’ll be no good to anyone else either. My best intentions will mean n

The happy man's shirt

Once upon a time, there was a happy and wealthy kingdom. An honest and just King ruled the land. But all was not well. The Queen was worried. She had noticed a change in the King's behavior. He had gone from happy and pleasant to irritable and angry. Sometimes would even seen him crying and moping around the castle. He would not eat the food on his plate and at night he would toss and turn in his bed. One morning, the King refused to get out of bed. The Queen immediately called for the royal physician. He examined the King from head to toe and decided that there was nothing physically wrong with him. The Queen did not believe it. She called for other doctors from far away kingdoms, but they too said the same thing. The Queen did not give up, for she knew there was something very wrong with the King. There was one doctor left. Dr. Monticarlo, from far away, saw the problem right away. "He has a severe case of Melancholia," he exclaimed. Everyone was s

The burning hut

Image
The man was living with full faith in God. But all days are not same. One day in a terrible sea storm, he lost his direction and way. The ship sank in the sea. When he awoke, he found himself on a lonely island. The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited island! He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions and food. As days have been passed he was weary. Overtired, he screamed to God to send help to be saved. He said, "It’s too long and hard to survive here. God ! Please evacuate me. I will lose faith if you don’t send a help now!" But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stung with gr

What his son learns instead blows the father away. “One day a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country for the sole purpose of showing his son how it was to be poor. They spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.” “After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. ‘It was great, Dad,’ the son replied. ‘Did you see how poor people can be?’ the father asked. ‘Oh Yeah,’ said the son.” “After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. ‘It was great, Dad,’ the son replied. ‘Did you see how poor people can be?’ the father asked. ‘Oh Yeah,’ said the son.” “’So what did

Life is like a cup of coffee

Image
“Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” ~ William Wallace. In life we may miss to live. What needs more importance, we give it less; what needs less importance, we give it more. Here is a short story about it. A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured

Mind own work

One day a new employee went to the HR and said .. I'm not interested in coming to the office anymore.” The HR responded, “But why?” Then the boy told “Ah! I can speculate many employees speaking badly about other Employees on back of him/her; one employee who can't talk well; Few employees looking at their fellow employees in a wrong way, there are hell lot of things that I can prove you wrong in our Office” There are people who do a lot of politics and talk all negative all the time. Few only do gossips all the time. The HR replied “OK. But before you go, can you do me a favour: take a full glass of water and walk three times around the office area without spilling a drop on the floor. Afterwards, leave the Office if you wish for.” The boy thought: it's a matter of minutes for him. And he walked three times around the office floor. Then he reached HR saying that he is done with it. And the HR asked “When you were walking around the Office floor did you see any employ

Posthumous roses

Image
Each year he sent her roses and the note would always say, "I love you even more this year, than last year on this day. My love for you will always grow, with every passing year.” She knew this was the last time that the roses would appear. She thought, he ordered roses in advance before this day. Her loving husband did not know, that he would pass away. He always liked to do things early, way before the time. Then, if he got too busy, everything would work out fine. She trimmed the stems and placed them in a very special vase. Then, sat the vase beside the portrait of his smiling face. She would sit for hours, In her husband’s favorite chair. While staring at his picture, and the roses sitting there. A year went by, and it was to live without her mate. With loneliness and solitude, that had become her fate. Then, the very hour, the doorbell rang, and there were roses sitting by her door. She brought the roses in and then just looked at them in shock. T
