Savor of content

Content. The sweet honey. According to me, the purpose of life should be happiness, peace, and content. But in today’s age, it’s being very difficult to be peaceful and contented.

At each and every step, we are getting disturbed. We always feel a lack of life. We never feel fulfilled. Everything hammers us for what we don’t have. So content seems to be an illusion in this modern mobile age.

In such dreariness, we can feel content, we can feel fulfilled. It’s certainly possible. When we look within, when we sublime within, it becomes reality. We just have to alter our thoughts and emotions to make it work. Think positive and feel positive, finally that leads us to act positively.

The positive attitude is the only way to feel content. When we list out what we have in life, we feel grateful. We feel fulfilled and contented for the blessings of God.

God has gifted me a beautiful life. He has created this wonderful world. He has not thrown me here. But he has brought me here. He has come with me. I am not alone. The creator of this universe is with me and taking care of me. In all situations, he stays with me.

He wakes me up, he sleeps me down. He makes my life run. Most of the process of metabolism is unknown to us. Still, they run well without our indulgence. Who does these all and love us selflessly? Blessings of God are infinite with me.

This divine understanding creates a contented life. When we feel that God has gifted me plenty of things, and I have been showering under the divine love. We feel pleased and placid.

Here is a little sweet poem about the savor of content. Poet says that contented and quiet mind is richer than a crown. Such obscured life experiences the bliss. The mirthful mind is real riches:

Sweet are the thoughts that savour of content;
The quiet mind is richer than a crown;
Sweet are the nights in careless slumber spent;
The poor estate scorns fortune's angry frown:
Such sweet content, such minds, such sleep, such bliss,
Beggars enjoy when princes oft do miss.

The homely house that harbours quiet rest;
The cottage that affords no pride nor care;
The mean that 'grees with country music best;
The sweet consort of mirth and music's fare;
Obscured life sets down a type of bliss:
A mind content both crown and kingdom is.

~ Robert Greene

Meaning:

Contented thoughts are sweet in savor. The tranquil mind is richer than a crown. Sound and carefree sleep is really pleasant. The estate may disparage. It may give an angry displeasure. But contented mind, sound sleep, divine bliss are often enjoyed by beggars and missed by princes.

The house where we feel homely is the harbor of peace. The cottage which has no pride and care is the real quiet shelter. The instruments that play country music, can create a sweet consort of mirth. Such obscured life sets down the heavenly bliss. So in conclusion, the contented and happy mind is the real treasure of pleasure.
