The happy man's shirt

Image
Once upon a time, there was a happy and wealthy kingdom. An honest and just King ruled the land. But all was not well. The Queen was worried. She had noticed a change in the King's behavior. He had gone from happy and pleasant to irritable and angry. Sometimes would even seen him crying and moping around the castle. He would not eat the food on his plate and at night he would toss and turn in his bed. One morning, the King refused to get out of bed. The Queen immediately called for the royal physician. He examined the King from head to toe and decided that there was nothing physically wrong with him. The Queen did not believe it. She called for other doctors from far away kingdoms, but they too said the same thing. The Queen did not give up, for she knew there was something very wrong with the King. There was one doctor left. Dr. Monticarlo, from far away, saw the problem right away. "He has a severe case of Melancholia," he exclaimed. Everyone was s

Songs of joy

Image
In this age of crises, in these days of discomfort, everyone is craving for joy. We may try to find it in outer world. And when we fail to attain it; we grieve, we grumble. Our heart fills with gloom. In such dryness and dreariness, this poem fills internal jollity. Whatever the situation is, however the happening does, sing a song of joy and mirth. To be happy is an inside job, never outside. When we realize it, we can develop positive understanding of life. We can not control the outer circumstance. It is beyond our reach. But definitely we can control our inner circumstance. It is within our reach. In any condition, we have a choice; weather to be gloomy or to be jolly. So why to choose negative. Choose to gay and glee. Youth has a concern with mental state. When we have spirited thoughts, we are young. Why to think negative and worried about death in young days. Death is celestial and heavenly. Greed and hunger makes a man slave of passions. What we enjoy makes ric

Meet everyday with joy

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Towards life, how my attitude is? Do I perceive it with a negative mindset or do I perceive it with a positive one?  Do I pursue a day with complaints or do I pursue a day with blessings? The quality of perception defines the experience. The amount of mental energy spent is the same. But the result differs. One makes us miserable and one makes us worthy. It’s completely due to outlook.  So let’s look inside. Let’s sublime within. God has gifted the freedom to choose. I am not a victim. Thinking is the greatest blessing. Let me be aware of my power. I can direct my thoughts. I can choose positive over negative. I can choose hope over despair. I can choose faith over doubt. Here is a wonderful short poem. It teaches; how to take up a day? To open my eyes with gratitude. To greet a day with reverence. To approach work with holiness. To meet difficulty with hope and faith. To act for the ultimate purpose of life. To meet people

A letter from God

Image
Dear Son, As you got up this morning, I watched you, and hoped you would talk to me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for something good that happened in your life yesterday. But I noticed you were too busy, trying to find the right outfit to wear. When you ran around the house getting ready, I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were to busy. At one point you had to wait, fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip instead. I watched patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to m

Five easiest ways to be happy

Image
What makes us happy ? We all want happiness. But why is it so hard to come by? Why do most of us spend entire life seeking for happiness but never realizing it? I think it’s because we are looking in the wrong places. Most of us go looking to any other person or thing. When we try outside; we fail. It’s frail efforts that don’t lead us anywhere. We don’t reach the destination and finally goof in misery. We change relationships, jobs, cars, houses, friends, etc. always thinking if I had that; I’d be happy. But when we get that thing it only brings temporary happiness. Then we start looking for the next happy high. Some look to negative ways like smoking and alcohol to find happiness. We feel status and style in it. Actually we escape instead of facing reality in such ways. It’s nothing but a blunder only. We harm own self and lead self to death.    I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend my entire life looking for happiness only to find it and have the buzz

Playthings

Image
Life is a game; play it. Do we really feel it ? We forget it when we live. In making money, in building bungalow, in gathering lumps of gold; we forget that it’s too a play. Here is a little sweet poem that makes us realize: Life is a play. Everything is a play and articles we get are toys that God has gifted us. A little child is playing in dust with broken twig; still happy in play. We live in luxury and still unhappy with all. If a child will see us he will tell us that what a stupid game we are playing. He will refuse to spoil his morning with such pebbles. Actually we have forgotten the art of being absorbed in a play of sticks and mud. We seek costly playthings. We don’t satisfy in havings. We crave for things and rush after them. Out of experience we realize that they are unobtainable. Ultimately we lose happiness of life. It’s called an ocean of desire in philosophy. In a frail canoe, I am struggling to cross it. In hassle I forget that this life is a play and pl
